Well, I got to go out on my morning drive to Starbucks. Usually Sophie has an, “hour after a wake up” nap. It lasts from about 8:15 to 9:00 in the morning. That is when I can escape with the car and drive on down to Starbucks to get coffee. Of course, I can’t go in and order, sit and read a book; however I can go through the drive thru and get our orders and have a leisurely drive around Lake Hollingsworth. It is a peaceful 15 minutes. I always have a small temptation to keep going around and around the lake, but I know someone is waiting on me at home (Sophie, not Greg) so back I go.
Today was difficult. She would not go to sleep for more then 30 minutes and was up pretty much from 9:00 in the morning until 8:00 tonight. She was either crying, eating or filling her drawers. I was a little frustrated. It helped to have friends come over that night. Daniel cooked pancakes, bacon and eggs and we watched Ratatoullie. Briana helped with Sophie, trying to calm her and get her to finally fall asleep. It was a good evening, even though I was at my wits end by the time the movie started.
The other stressful thing is her breathing at night. She gets REALLY congested and spends most of the night coughing, gagging and trying to get some air through her tiny nose. She is fine during the day, it is just at night when we have problems. We looked up some remedies and tired a couple already. One was to stand in a steamy bathroom, which we did and that helped her for about two hours. The others are propping her up in bed (which we have), getting a humidifier in the room(which we are buying today), using saline drops and suctioning out her nose (which will come if the humidifier doesn’t help) and finally putting some drops of breast milk in her nose. The last one sounds odd, but several people swear by it. We will try anything once, because she sounds really bad at night. It gets to the point that Greg and I worry she will not start breathing again. So, we hope what we try will work and our little one will sleep better at night.
All and all we are doing well and enjoying being parents. Sophie is a wonderful delight and a precious gift from God. We are blessed to have her and to take care of her.

Ultrasonic Humidifiers are the way to go! She still had some congestion, but it was not as bad. All three of us got more sleep last night. YAY!!!!!
Good, I’m glad you all slept better last night! With this crazy weather, it is no wonder her little system is messed up! Hang in there, working through each little thing one at a time. Love to you all!
