Eight months already!!!

We can’t believe our little bundle of joy has grown up to eight months already. It just seems like yesterday she was a squirming, little blob that just burped, spit up and pooped. Now she can do all those things and more. She does something amazing and new everyday. Her latest is standing. She LOVES to stand. She will stand for 30 minutes and play with anything she can get her hands on. She loves to hold onto our glass coffee table and play with the TV remotes. She bangs them, chews on them and eventually drops them. Drool everywhere. There are a few moments that she forgets to hold onto the table and actually stands with no support for about five seconds. It is fun to watch.

She also loves books. We bought the small board books from the Dr. Seuss collection. You can actually put all of her toys next to the pile of books and she will commando crawl to the books every time. She squeals with delight when we pull them out. Sometimes it gets so bad we have to hide them because she will not be satisfied until we read them to her 5 or 6 times. I know this sounds like a great thing to have, a child who loves books, however reading Hop on Pop six times each and every day can get monotonous. So far, her favorites are, Hop on Pop, Put Me in the Zoo, Are You my Mother?, Hands, Hands, Fingers, Thumb and the ever popular, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? She has others, but these are her top five. Hopefully, we can get a video of dad reading her books to her, it is fun to watch.

However, the time is coming, August 4, that she goes to day care. Four hours every morning from 9–1. Greg will drop her off and Kelly will pick her up. We pray that she enjoys it and learns a lot. Day care will give me a chance to go back to work more hours and for Greg to get home at 5:30 instead of 7:30. Yay!!! We can eat at a normal dinner time. We will let you know how the whole day care thing goes. We are praying for the best. :)

  1. Returning from our trip (2 weeks) we were so surprised how much Sophie has progressed and grown! She is noticeably more independent, thinking and doing things on her own, with a determination and will evident already. Her love of learning is evident also with her pleasure and depth of interest in reading books. Her face lights up as her eyes quickly scan the page, darting around to her favorite figures on the page. She enjoys the words, the poetry, and the game of familiar words and repetition. How advanced she is on this! You will need lots of books to keep up with her, for she shows a thirst for more. I also believe she understands so much beyond her short experiences as an 8 month old baby. Her smile and laugh are irresistible to those around her.

Sophie is also a very sweet person, being quiet and attentive in general, and showing good patience, too. What a treasure — We cherish these days with her!!

  2. It is truly amazing to see how much Sophie changed in the 2 weeks we were gone. We may have to take turns reading those books as she just loves it! When I look at the new pictures I am in awe of the wonderful thing God did in providing us the ability to love one of his highest creations. Keep up the good work.
